The first step to becoming an American Heart Association Instructor with Therapeutic Professionals is to complete the Instructor Candidate Screening form.  There are several prerequisites that must be satisfied before attending the Instructor course.  

Registration is not complete until your payment has been received.  Payments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the class is full. Your payment should be received 2 weeks prior to Instructor course.  

Steps to become an AHA Instructor

Teach others how to perform the life-saving skills you already know!

1.  Complete the Instructor Candidate Screening Form .

2.  Have current AHA provider card in the discipline of the Instructor Course. (Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS and Heartsaver)

3.  Be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS® and Heartsaver®.

4.  Align with Therapeutic Professionals by completing an Instructor Candidate Application.

5.  Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course.

6.  Successfully be monitored teaching your first course within six months after completing the Instructor Course.The Training Center Coordinator may require additional monitoring.

The AmericanHeart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, andPALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of thesematerials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by theAmerican Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for aportion of fees needed for AHA course materials; do not represent income to theAssociation.
